Update Turn 1423: Rules for becoming a chosen of the Merciful one have changed.
Update Turn 1490: Replacing Indomitable.
Update Turn 1494: Main goals and objectives added.
Update Turn 1505: Thresholds around plagues changed.

The goals and objectives:

The Merciful One want to help new captains to build up their vessels to support the crew in surviving the hostile galaxy.

The next priority will be to get and keep the plagues under control.
There will be no plagues over 20% at any time.
The chosens are required to actively cure plagues, as soon as they are over 10%.

Non chosen vessels are rewarded for their help in curing plagues:
A vessel that provides the prophet prove of curing a plague of 20% or higher, will get a free module (advanced or higher) as soon as we have an (arranged) meeting.
All non-chosen vessels that shows the prophet the prove of curing a plague of 15% or higher are rewarded with 15 merciful favour, ie to denounce the Merciful Prophet once.

The second priority will be to revitalize the Mercy's Cross.
I am looking for large and strong vessels who can help me in supporting and enforcing this.
Helping a fellow captain in trouble can be very rewarding and will help to buildup new friendships.

Enemies of the Merciful One will be hunted until compensation is received.
Attacks on "Peaceful" ships or young vessels (100-) is one way to become an enemy of the Merciful.

The selection of chosen:

The aim of the system will be maintain a high number of chosen allowing both those who do much work for the merciful one, and new ships to have chosen status. My aim is to maintain 10 semi-permanent chosen ships, and between 5 and 8 temporary chosen slots for new ships and ships who need short term chosen status (up to 10 turns). The semi-permanent positions will be reaccessed whenever a request is for a semi-permenant chosen hood is made and the maximum number of semi-permenant chosen ships has been reached.

Ships qualify for chosen status by providing prove of their dedication to the Merciful One to the prophet. If necessary the prophet might ask to fulfull a merciful quest. These quests will require a vessels full commitment, and have a strict time limit for their completion. The ship will be chosen for the duration of the quest, and on completion will gain a semi-permenant chosen status. Quests will typically involving curing a set list of plagues, but quests may be set.

At any time you wish to become a temporary chosen (for example because you are a young ship: 10 to 100 turns old) all that will need to be done is hail me with your reasons for becoming chosen. If you are a newbie I will not turn down your request unless circumstances prevent me from being able to give out a position. Otherwise, I will decide on a case by case basis, priority will be given to those ships who help provide The Mercy's Cross service, though suitable payment will also be accepted. Temporary chosen status for young ships will last for a minimum of 10 turns, with those ships chosen longest removed first, and other temporary chosen will be removed after a minimum agreed amount of time.

Ships that are chosen of other great old ones are welcome to become merciful chosen if they meet the requirements, and give precedence to their duties as merciful chosen.

Ships that are classified as galactic criminals, or who release dybuk will not be allowed to become chosen unless they are forgiven by the collective TBG universe.

Duties as chosen:

These duties apply only to ships with semi permenant chosen status, not the young vessels I choose on a temporary basis

Will be required to praise a minimum of 2 out of every 4 turns, though are welcome to not do so for short periods of time (up to 12 turns) if you email me with a reason why, and make an effort to make up the deficit in future turns. Failure to praise as required or provide explanation will result in you being unchosen.

Merciful and hostile are no opposite of each others. A Merciful chosen can be a registered hostile vessels as long it obeys to certain merciful rules regarding hostilities:
- No attacks on vessels younger than 100 turns, with the exception of galatic criminals.
- No hostilities between chosen, unless with mutual agreement.
- All attacks are communitcated at least 24 hours before the turn runs.

Will cure any plague they encounter higher than 10%, and actively seek out those homeworlds rarely visited to ensure their plagues are under control.

Will provide sanctuary for any ship who requests it unless they are a galactic criminal or heretic, for an amount of time agreed by the chosen and the ship claiming sanctuary, as approved by the prophet of the Merciful One.

Will try to convince heretics of the errors of their ways in whichever way them deem necessary. Those who turn from the Merciful One, earn no mercy.

Heretics

A ship will only be made a heretic if it actively works against the interest of the merciful one and his prophet, either through schisming, repeated denounces or by deliberate abuse of The Mercy's Cross system.

Favour trading:

Posting in the SST your trade is sufficient. Other denounces will be investigated and those ships who do not provide a suitable reason will be made heretics.
